Well, I’ve neglected our blog for too long and am out of excuses.
It’s time for me to post about our beautiful baby girl. She was born June 20th weighing 8 lbs 2 oz, 20 inches long and absolutely perfect!
I’ll tell a quick version of the story…
My headaches got really bad the last couple months of the pregnancy and it was getting REALLY hard to function. My doctor induced me on my due date. We showed up at 6 am. Pitocin at 7:00 (1 cm). Walked for a couple hours. 1 1/2 cm doc broke my water. Contractions really picked up. Got epidural around 11:00 (4 cm). Contractions slowed down. Kept increasing my pitocin until contractions were regular again. I went from a 4 to ready to push so fast I could barely believe it. Three pushes and she was out.
For those of you who don’t know, Debbie (my step mom) is an anesthesiologist at the hospital where I delivered. She wasn’t on call the day I was in, but she went out of her way to take care of me from a distance. Everyone kept telling me how much they love Dr. Barnes :) I got several comments from the nurses that they had never seen so many anesthesiologists check on one patient. Ha ha! I guess I got a little VIP treatment. If I was to get special treatment from anyone in the hospital while having a baby, I would choose the people giving me drugs hands down! Thanks Debbie!
When she finally arrived, I decided that the name I had chosen was all wrong so she went by Baby Coombs till the next day. I don’t know why we had such a difficult time naming her. In any case we finally went back to one of our top 5. Kylie Anne Coombs. Anne with an “E”. ha ha
Mom flew up to help me out the week I had Ky. She sparkled my house, put TONS of food in my fridge and freezer, spoiled my boys. In fact, I don’t think my boys had a chance to miss me at all! I don’t know what in the world I would have done without her! It’s sad to be so far away from my mom but I’m glad she got to be here when Ky was born at least!
Super proud Dad and brother! Sawyer was pouting in the corner…lol!
Is that not the squishiest face you’ve ever seen?!? She was 3 days old here.
I love how tiny babies look next to Ben
This girl loves her swing
Sawyer is so sweet with her. He likes to take care of her and make sure that I always know when she is crying..
Cam loves when she comes and hangs out in his bed.
I LOVE those droopy little cheeks!
I can’t believe how much they change and how fast! She is now two weeks old and changing every day. We are so blessed to have her as part of our family and hope that she will feel the same!
Laura, I absolutely Love your baby girl! She is SO adorable. It will be fun to get our little ones together some day.
ReplyDeleteHer face is seriously SO cute!!! Congratulations!
Laura, thanks for the beautiful pictures of my wonderful greatgrands. I'm proud of you and Ben - your family, your schooling, the success and blessing of your marriage to each other. I love you so very much. Grandma Egbert
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! She is so so cute Laura! I love her. I can't wait to see her squishy cheeks and give them kisses. I am so glad you got your little girl. You are such a good MOmmy. Love and miss you.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on that perfect little girl!! I'm so glad you have both now. Aren't they so different? Every daddy needs a little girl to wrap him around her little fingers. :) Your family is so adorable! Some day maybe we will be in the same state again and get to see each other! Congrats again, and good luck with three kiddos! I think that was my hardest adjustment. But they are so wonderful and so worth it.
